30 Day Health Challenge – Day 24

Yesterday we looked at deep breathing as a technique to reduce your stress throughout the day. Today, we’re going to explore one of my favorite stress reduction topics: Time Management.

Nearly two decades ago, I bought the Idiot’s Guide to Managing Your Time. I love this book! There were so many helpful tips. I have literally read the thing at least 20 times. I’ve had 3 copies and have bought even more to give to friends. I highly recommend it for future exploration.

Today, we’re going to talk about saying no. One of the biggest time management problems I see is allowing things to creep into our schedule and sidetrack the things we really need and want to be doing.

First, take a look at your planner for today. (If you don’t have one, I highly recommend getting one and using it. You can’t manage your time and tasks if you aren’t writing things down.) Next, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is there anything I could delegate to someone else? (I let the grocery store do my shopping for me.)
  • Is there anything I’m doing because I “should” that I don’t really want to do?
  • If I eliminate those things, can I add in time for something I love?

A good rule of thumb when adding things to you calendar, if you don’t have to, and you aren’t excited about doing it, say NO!

Happy Eating!
