Self-Discovery is the First Step

People seem to avoid self-discovery. I’m seeing it now in my current 30 day challenge. (Join here!) People prefer to work challenges with action steps that don’t involve having to think about why, but it is in the why that self-discovery and ultimately transformation happens.

Ever wonder why some people’s weight yo-yos with diet after diet, and some people transform their lives with a diet? It isn’t the diet! Research tells us that all diets work while you’re applying the principles of the diet and stop working when you don’t. What makes the difference is transformation, which can only happy through self-discovery.

Our brains are wired to want things. When we try to restrict ourselves through diets, we’re ultimately setting ourselves up for failure. To achieve lasting changes in our health, we have to find a desire that is stronger than our desire for food. We have to want something else more than chocolate cake and donuts.

How do you find that something else? Self-discovery. You have to take time to get to know yourself first.

In the video below, I talk a little about my own health journey. If you’re interested in reading about my journey of self-discovery, check out my eBook Broken Table.
