Letting Go of Toxicity

For the last two weeks, we’ve been talking about relationships. Two weeks ago, we talked about setting boundaries, and last week, we talked about learning to say no. Both are key to having healthy relationships, which contribute to our health and wellness. Happy people in loving, supportive relationships make better health choices.

This week, we’re talking about letting go of toxic relationships. Often, our relationships are unhealthy, because we haven’t learned to set boundaries and communicate those boundaries in a loving way. Most of the people in our lives want to love and support us and just need us to communicate what we need in the relationship.

Unfortunately, there will also always be some people that you simply can’t set boundaries with. Those people will try to make you feel guilty or try to shame you for changing the rules, for making healthier choices for yourself. That is not love, and you don’t need it in your life. Letting those relationships go gifts you with the freedom to be your healthiest self.
